DR PEPPER VENISON JERKY

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups Dr Pepper®
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp liquid smoke
  • 3 Tbsp kosher salt
  • 1 Tbsp black pepper
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 lbs venison round, sliced into thin strips

PREPARATION

  1. In a medium saucepan combine the Dr Pepper®, Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke, kosher salt, black pepper, and garlic powder and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook 10-15 minutes until mixture has reduced by half. Chill marinade completely
  2. Add venison to marinade and marinate in the fridge for 10 hours or overnight.
  3. When ready, preheat oven to 175°F. Line baking sheets with aluminum foil and a baking rack. Lay the strips on the rack and bake for 3-4 hours until desired texture.
  4. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
